Here we see a newly-linked 4-car unit of R46 type cars moving south to Pitkin Yard. This 4-car unit is made up of cars orphaned from accidents involving this car type. 6152-3 were orphaned from 6150-1 in a derailment this year, and a crash in 1970 led to cars 6207-6 remaining as a lone A-B unit until they were mated with cars 6152-3. The creative decision to link these four orphaned cars together is emblematic of the creativity and effectiveness of NYC Transit shop forces.
