Registrar of Co-operatives and Friendly Societies Brent Gittens says Barbados can now boast that it has the only cooperative society with by-laws to assist individuals who were imprisoned or impacted by it.
He believes it will break the stigma attached to former imprisoned people.
Minister of State in Foreign Trade and Business Development in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Sandra Husbands, says she's impressed with the co-op's mandate.
She suggests it will ultimately break the cycle of recidivism.
