O Paneerselvam supporters broke open the door of AIADMK office, ahead of the party's general council meeting led by E Palaniswami.

The General Council meet empowered E Palaniswami to steer the party, as a single supreme leader in the position of interim General Secretary. General Council also squashed dual leadership for AIADMK and created Deputy General Secretary post for the party. Deputy General Secretary will be selected by party's General Secretary, resolution stated. Council also terminated coordinator and joint coordinator posts.

General Council Meet adopted a resolution demanding Bharat Ratna for Periyar, MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalitha.
