Deputy Opposition Leader Sussan Ley says the Liberal Party’s major retailer plan is a “good” and “strong policy”.
Ms Ley’s comments come as Opposition Leader Peter Dutton’s plan to break up major retailers with new divestiture powers has split the Coalition.
The policy would attempt to stop price gouging, land banking, mistreatment of farmers and deter anti-competitive behaviour.
The Deputy Opposition Leader said the policy will be “putting the supermarkets on notice”.
“Baking in consumers, backing in families … and backing in our farmers,” Ms Ley told Sky News Australia.
“This is a good policy, it’s a strong policy.”
