(15 May 1978) United Nations peacekeeping forces in Southern Lebanon have resumed mobile patrols in and around the ancient port city of Tyre after two weeks during which Palestinian guerrilla units clashed with United Nations forces. However, following meetings between UN commanders and Palestinian leaders, the situation in the region has eased. The Palestinians claim the United Nations is not doing enough to ensure a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon while the UN allege that Palestinian guerrilla units are returning to their former bases as quickly as the Israelis withdraw, and consequently the Israelis are refusing to completely pull out of the region
