It's common for tumor cells to have a disrupted metabolism. They use more glucose than usual, so it's thought that treatments targeting metabolism could be a useful addition to current therapies. In recent years, there's been growing interest in how metabolic pathways can influence cancer growth. And many advocates of the ketogenic diet believe that by adjusting nutrition, they can deprive tumor cells of their primary fuel (glucose) to survive. To trigger metabolic changes, a ketogenic diet (high in fat, low in carbohydrates and protein), caloric restriction, and fasting will reduce blood glucose. This leads the body to break down fat instead and convert them to ketones for energy.

That may sound promising. But not really (except of course that it will definitely help you lose weight fast).
