In the USA at the auction, Gooding&Company put up a Ferrari F50 of 1996. The model itself is very rare, but this particular instance is valuable also because it owned the famous boxer, Mike Tyson. That is why the car was estimated at 5.5 million dollars. Its details are disclosed on the site of the auction house.
Mike Tyson was very fond of high-speed supercars and in the 90-ies collected a good collection of them. Buy Ferrari F50 he decided in February 1996. The sportsman owned the car for five years and then sold it.
After that, the supercar Ferrari changed several owners. The mileage of the car for 26 years was only 9966 km and it was well preserved. However, the supercar was recently restored with the interior trim, air conditioning, and suspension upgrades - $75,000 was spent on that. All original documentation for the car was preserved as well.
Ferrari F50 is a limited edition model dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Italian brand and issued in 349 units. Its design uses Formula 1 technology and even the 4.7-liter V12 is, in fact, a production version of the race car's engine.
The engine develops 520 hp and is paired to a six-speed manual gearbox. Ferrari F50 accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and reaches 325 km/h.
By the way, at the auction will also sell rare Porsche star "Forsage" Paul Walker. It was estimated at least a million dollars.
Paul Walker, as we know, loved rare sports cars, and in his collection were once six Porsche 911 of different years of production. Unfortunately, the actor was killed in an accident, when a friend decided to take him for a ride in a Porsche.
