David Easton (1917-2014), a Canadian-American Political Scientist was one of the main critics of Political theory.
David Easton made the following points:
1. Political theory is based on mere speculation. It is not based on observation and no proof exists for the theories.
2. It is devoid of any acute observation of any political realities.
3. Easton strongly believed that it was necessary to free the study of politics from a compulsory reading of the classics (like the works of Plato, Aristotle etc) and the history of political ideas. What was necessary, according to Easton, was to begin the study of politics from a scientific point of view.
