At least 9 people have been injured in a stampede at Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus Railway station. The incident occurred at 5.56 am on platform number 1, ahead of the departure the Bandra-Gorakhpur Express. The injured passengers were shifted to hospital soon after for treatment. As per BMC, the stampede broke out due to heavy rush ahead of Diwali. On the other hand, the Railways claim that the incident happened because of several unreserved passengers who tried to rush in for a seat. When the Bandra Gorakhpur express arrived at platform number 1, a large crowd of passengers started to board the train. The rush increased and resulted in a stampede.
