Spreadsheets are probably the most useful business tool you'll ever use. They can be used for a huge range of tasks from accounts through to quotations, invoices, stock management and pretty much everything to do with the day-to-day operations of a small business. The only folk telling you not to use spreadsheets are those who sell software that probably isn't as good as a spreadsheet :-).
