This week we look at a group of plants with contorted or divaricated stems that look AMAZING in the winter garden! These madly twisted branches and stems look their best leafless but there's also an evergreen camelia we throw into the mix that lends itself to sculptural pruning. And though we might all be familiar with a contorted stem, just what is a divaricating stem?! The plants we cover in this video are:
Corylus avellana 'Contorta' or contorted filbert
Camelia japonica 'Unryu'
Morus alba 'Unryu' or contorted mulberry
Juncus effuusus 'Spiralis' or corkscrew rush
Salix matsudana 'Tortusa' or corkscrew willow
Muehlenbeckia astonii
