This is my footage of Hurricane Charley from Bonita Spring, Florida, which made landfall on the SW Florida coast on August 13, 2004. Although the computer model forecasts, the National Hurricane Center, and the national media (including The Weather Channel) had this thing making landfall in the Tampa Bay area, Charley, like other hurricanes, had a mind of it's own. The local stations in SW Florida, one in particular, WINK TV, the CBS affiliate, their chief meteorologist, Jim Farrell, went out on a limb and forecasted Charley to change direction and turn NNE and make landfall somewhere in Charlotte or Lee County, Farrell was spot on and the National Hurricane Center didn't change their forecast until Charley had already made it's turn toward the SW FL coast. You can hear me watching The Weather Channel in the background.
