Shantala Shivalingappa's extraordinary talent has been acclaimed by the likes of the legendary Pina Bausch and she has already captivated Jacob's Pillow Dance audiences with the vibrant, precise storytelling embodied in her interpretation of the traditional Kuchipudi, which originated in southeastern India and is recognized as one of the eight forms of classical Indian dance. Accompanied by four master musicians, this star of international dance performed the U.S. premiere of "Shiva Ganga", which explores the balance between the Hindu gods Shiva, who creates and sustains the universe through dance, and Ganga, who embodies grace and elegance.
