What does a coffee machine have to do with sexual assault?
It starts with Roy Moore. Fox News host Sean Hannity defended him after Moore was accused of sexual misconduct against minors. In response, Keurig pulled advertising from his show. This led to the trending hashtag #KeurigSmashChallenge, where fans of Hannity smashed their coffee makers in solidarity.
This isn’t the first boycott by conservatives this year. NFL fans burned memorabilia to protest kneeling during the national anthem. Kellogg's faced boycotts after it pulled advertising from the right-wing site Breitbart. And a boycott was started against Target after the company introduced a policy allowing transgender customers to use their preferred bathroom.
Keurig’s CEO apologized to employees for taking a political stance. And Hannity called for an end to the Keurig smashing on his Monday night show.
