Aditi Upadhya interprets "Offering" by Pandit Amaradeva (b. 1927). The text is attributed to the mystic poet Kabir (1440-1518): Kahe Sove Re, Chalna Hai Dur Musafir.

Why do you sleep, ô Wayfarer,
When the road ahead is long?
Oh Mad One, do not brood
Do not slumber so long
Why turn away from your work?
Why fritter your life away?
Your path is long and difficult
You have to journey alone
Your acquisitions have been stolen midway
You sit with your head in your hands, lamenting.
The river is deep : how [will you} cross over
If your boat has holes in it ?
Kabir says: Oh Good Man,
Why are you distracted along your way?
