We visit S'edav Va'aki Museum & Archaeological Park (Pueblo Grande Ruin) in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona.
On this episode of Searching for History, Erin and I are staying in Sun City West and going out on day trips to various historical and archaeological sites. On this day, we visit the S'edav Va'aki Museum & Archaeological Park (Formerly Pueblo Grande Museum & Archaeological Park). The S'edav Va'aki Museum & Archaeological Park, located in Phoenix, Arizona, is a 1500-year-old archaeological site of what is known as “Pueblo Grande,” a platform mound site from the Hohokam culture. The site was donated to the City of Phoenix in 1924. Today, the archaeological park contains a museum, a two-thirds of a mile interpretive trail, the ruin of the platform mound, a native plant garden, and replicated dwellings. It is amazing that this place exists right in the middle of Phoenix, just minutes from downtown. This is the ninth of a twelve-part series that documents the historical and archaeological sites Erin and I visited on our journey to and from Arizona. Join us as we visit the S'edav Va'aki Museum & Archaeological Park.
