Here Gary Lucas, "one of the best and most original guitarists in America" (Rolling Stone) performs his original solo guitar score accompanying the German Expressionist silent film classic "The Golem" (1920, d. Paul Wegener and Carl Boese) at the Rubin Museum of Art in NYC on Feb. 5th 2010. The avant- guitarist has performed with the film all over the world in over 20 countries to date since debuting the work-- originally a collaboration with keyboardist/composer Walter Horn-- at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria in 1989. He has perfomed with "The Golem" at Royal Festival Hall in London, in Moscow and St. Petersburg (Dom Kino), in South Korea, at the Venice Biennale, at Tel Aviv's Next Festival, opening the NY Jewish Film Festival in Lincoln Center, in Sydney and Melbourne Australia, Budapest, Llubljana, Toronto and Montreal...and many times in Prague, home of "The Golem".
