Countless parades with school children like here in Kalamata, throughout Greece, celebrated October 28 Day when Greeks refused passage to Germany's ally Italy at the start of WWII. Greeks fought back heroically but eventually succumbed when Germany joined in it's European occupation. This day otherwise known as OXI (NO) Day reverberates the famous response from the 300 Spartans who refused to surrender their weapons to the Persian occupying forces with two words: Molon Labe (come take them).
