National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chief Priyank Kanoongo on April 23, talked about his letter to the DM and the Chief Secretary for their support in the investigation of the alleged rape and murder case of the Dalit girl in West Bengal’s Raiganj. He said that DM has been a failure in providing assistance in the investigation. Speaking to ANI, he said, “We had clearly instructed the DM and the Chief Secretary that we wanted to meet the Investigating officer of the case and the post-mortem authority. It’s really unfortunate that they haven’t turned up as of now since 11:30 am. We will inform the GOI that the DM is incompetent. The mother of the victim was given a call from Pradhan to be informed about the girl. The Pradhan is from TMC, so definitely it has political connections.”
