The Princess Basma Center for Disabled Children in East Jerusalem is owned and operated by the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem. Princess Basma Center is an internationally-accredited therapy and rehabilitation center and one of the few institutions designated by the Palestinian Authority Ministry of Health to provide rehabilitation and medical treatment to children with disabilities and their families in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza.
A signature program of Princess Basma Center is The Mother Empowerment Program, a two- to three-week residential program that provides children newly-diagnosed with a disability and their mothers with intensive, individualized early intervention. It costs $5,000 to provide this opportunity for one family. The Princess Basma Center also offers the only comprehensive autism program available to Palestinian children in Palestine, Israel, and Jordan as well as a K-12 inclusive school. It serves families in outlying villages with an extensive network of outreach programs.
