The cutting tool is moved up to the outside diameter of the bar then moved along to cut the thread. At the end of the thread the cutting tool is withdrawn and returned to the start point. The cut depth is applied manually using the top slide. This is a part manual/part CNC operation giving cut depth control to the operator and avoiding a full CNC set up. The procedure can be repeated as many times as required.
