It has been more than 130 years since HC Andersen finished his last fairytale, still, this coming season, his works serve as inspiration for Søren Le Schmidt’s AW22 collection.

“The common thread through the authorship runs the desire to belong, fit in and be recognized, whether the main character is an ugly duckling, a chimney sweep or a young, aspiring artist. HC Andersen’s adventures and stories transcend the time-bound and the personal,” the Danish designer told Vogue Scandinavia.

This season, Le Schmidt continues his collaboration with furniture company Alton & Heim, making most of the collection in leftover fabric from their interiors.

“Since we are working with furniture fabrics, the fabrics are also heavier durable textiles, which are very long-lasting,” Le Schmidt says.
