A lot of people love wildlife and want to help by feeding wild ducks at local parks. Unfortunately, this can cause more harm than good!
At the park, consider alternatives like:
-bring a camera and binoculars to enjoy ducks from a distance
-organize a trash pickup to remove materials that might be harmful to wildlife
-Collect stray fishing hooks, lines, and sinkers
-Learn more about native ducks and geese and their natural history.
-Spread the word! Share this information with others. If your local park has a problem with feeding, contact your parks and recreation office and work together to put up educational signs.
