Narrowboat Adventures On The Llangollen Canal- Day Two Heading To Chirk & The Pontcysyllte!

Welcome to our channel! While we usually share videos about the beautiful Cotswolds, where we call home, back in June 2024 we decided to take a break and embark on a new adventure. For one week, we hired a narrowboat — one of our great passions (right after the Cotswolds, of course)!
In this journey, we're cruising along one of the UK's most picturesque waterways, the Llangollen Canal. We've hired the "Happy Wren," a charming canal boat we picked up from Blackwater Marina. Over the next seven days, we'll be exploring this stunning canal, including its most famous landmark: the awe-inspiring Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Known as ‘The Stream in the Sky,’ this iconic structure spans the River Dee 126 feet above, and it's a Grade I listed building as well as part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Designed by the renowned Thomas Telford, it's truly a marvel to behold.
In Day Two’s Vlog leave out overnight mooring at Whittington Wharf and head for the Llangollen via Chirk Aqueduct and Chirk Tunnel. Along the way we have just 2 locks, New Marton Bottom Lock and New Marton Top Lock plus we make a lunchtime stop at one of our favourite canalside pubs The Poachers Pocket. We moor up in the little village of Froncysyllte and take a walk along the towpath to the famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and walk across it which will be in a separate video.
