In a shocking security breach at the Golden Temple, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal was shot while performing 'seva'. The 62-year-old former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab narrowly escaped an assassination attempt. Badal was fulfilling 'sewadar' duties as part of a penance imposed by the Akal Takht for his party's past actions (2007-2017). The shooter, Narain Singh Chaura from Gurdaspur, has known ties to Khalistani terror groups and the ISI. The incident raises serious concerns over temple security and the rise of extremist elements.
