Yuga Labs, Inc v Ryder Ripps - What is the lawsuit really about? Many people assume this is a defamation or copyright infringement lawsuit. it is not. This is a trademark lawsuit with a first amendment parody defense. This will not be a simple case to win for Yuga. The first amendment provides broad discretion for commentary and parody.
CORRECTION: Ryder Ripps did not download and copy the Bored Ape images but simply linked to the same image as Yuga. So there was no 'copying' and a link to an image may not trigger a claim for unauthorized use. I will take a look at that issue in a future video.
