Book 20 of Dr. Shabir Ally's Ramadan 2021 series, 30 Life-Changing Books:
The Post-Mortem Vindication of Jesus in the Sayings Gospel Q | Daniel A. Smith
Q is silent on Jesus' death and resurrection. Daniel A. Smith argues that Q considers Jesus' end as 'assumption', a bodily removal from earth to heaven, not resurrection. And the vindication by God after Jesus' death was understood to be through assumption from the tomb, not the cross. But though assumption was an early Christian view, resurrection became the popular view, as found in the Gospel of Mark. Dr. Shabir also cites Smith's reference to a German scholar Dieter Zeller (whom Smith does not agree with), who argues that Q suggests that Jesus was taken up alive and did not die. This claim, along with early Christian ideas about Jesus' assumption, is close to popular Muslim interpretations of the Quranic verse, "they killed him not nor did they crucify him, but so it was made to appear to them."
