중국 견제 '쿼드' 첫 정상회담 12일 개최…인도 외교부 발표
Top leaders from four countries... including the U.S., India, Japan, and Australia... are meeting virtually for the first time this Friday.
According to India's foreign ministry on Tuesday, local time... the first summit of the so-called 'Quad' nations will take place online this year... addressing regional and global issues of shared interest as well as cooperation toward a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
The statement added that the summit will feature discussions on issues like maritime security and climate change... as well as ongoing efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
The four-way meeting is considered to be a counterweight to China's assertive approach in the Indo-Pacific region.
