Celebrate the season with these Italian Tatu Cookies! A perfect blend of rich cocoa and festive spices, these soft, chewy cookies capture the warmth and joy of Christmas. Ingredients:
4 Eggs (room temp.)
1 cup Sugar
4 cups All-purpose Flour
1/2 cup Walnut pieces
1/2 cup Milk (warm)
1/2 cup Cocoa Powder, unsweetened
1 cup Crisco Shortening (*a little less)
1/2 tablespoon Cloves, ground
1/2 tablespoon Cinnamon
1/2 tablespoon Baking Powder
Note: To make the full recipe (large batch), increase the eggs to 9 and double all of the other ingredients.
Instructions:
Mix wet ingredients. In separate bowl, mix dry ingredients and add to wet ingredients. Roll into small balls. Line baking trays with parchment paper. Bake at 350 F. (180 C.) oven for approx. 10 minutes (or more). Break cookie in half to see if done. Let cool.
Glaze: Icing (Powdered) Sugar and Water
Dip cookies in glaze and place on rack to set. ENJOY!
