Approximately there are 120 types of tumor one can get inside their head itself. In each part, a different type of tumor can develop. Those are different tumors. They can form separately.

In tumors , primary tumors are something that grow inside the brain. There are also secondary tumors or metastasis. It means that it originates in some other part of the body and it would have spread to the head. That is secondary or metastasized. So the tumors are categorized into two types.

So which age group can get these types of tumors? No age group is spared. From a newborn child to elderly people, across all ages, brain tumors can come for anybody. Of the tumors that come in the brain are all tumors normal tumors or cancerous tumors?

Of the 120 types of tumors that I had mentioned earlier, each tumor's characteristic is different. So analyzing each tumor is beyond the scope of discussion. However, I can give you all an overview of the same.

So you might have the doubt, "is it life threatening?", "What will be the problems and effects of it?", "Is it something to be worried about?", "Or can we be sportive about it?" You may have such questions in your mind.

The tumor in the other parts of the body are referred to using stages. It is stage 1, stage 2, stage 3 and stage 4. That applies for the tumors in other parts of the body. But for the brain, we do not use the "stage" terminology. When it comes to the brain, everything is "grading". Grades are similar to the stages and there is grade1, grade 2, grade 3 and grade 4.

Each tumor is identified with a grade. Certain tumors will be grade 1 and continue being a grade 1 tumor itself. Some tumors will be grade 2 when being treated and post treatment it can become grade 3 or grade 4 tumors. In some cases, the tumor can originate as a grade 3 tumor itself.

Most of the time, many tumors originate as grade 4 tumors. Similarly, the tumors need not progress from one grade to the other. It can either progress or originate as a tumor in a higher grade.

Many people ask us this question. "For us you have diagnosed it as a grade 4 tumor. Should we have come earlier? "So that we could have been diagnosed when the tumor was at grade 1."

Many tumors originate as a grade 4 tumor itself. The brain has such a characteristic. So it is not possible to diagnose it earlier as the symptoms will not be shown. They say, "The patient was fine until last week, they said they felt dizzy and got epilepsy. They asked us to take the scan and now they say it is a grade 4 tumor.” They might doubt if they have gone to a doctor very late. That is why I am giving this explanation.

Therefore, higher the grade, it does not give much time and explodes soon. In many cases, they would have taken a scan for a mild head injury and everything would have been normal. They would have had epilepsy after three months at that time they would have a tumor. In the brain, there is a chance of such big tumors to develop in just three months. The nature of a grade 4 tumor is like that.

Let us now see grade 1 and grade 2 tumors. Generally, there are some grade 1 tumors in our brain. Those can be completely cured. We need not worry about it. If properly treated
and cleared the person can be back to their original state and lead a normal life. There would be nothing to worry about.

As I mentioned earlier, the brain tumor which comes inside the brain, we call that intra axial. Tumor can also come outside the brain. The most common brain tumor inside the brain is called Glioma. The most common brain tumor outside the brain is called meningioma. Meningioma grows on the cover of the brain which is also called the dura.

Grade 1 meningioma and grade 1 glioma are completely curable. It can be completely cured. If the surgery is done properly and if the tumors are removed, the patient can be normal for the rest of their life.

Similarly, when certain tumors develop as a grade 4 tumor, then it is to be worried about. If a grade 4 tumor develops, even if it is treated, it grows back again and again and can be life threatening. So based on the grade of the tumor, the outcome changes.
