(13 Nov 2016) Igor Dodon, a pro-Moscow candidate, seized nearly 15-point lead in Moldova president election on Sunday, with 75 pct of vote counted.
Dodon had 57.25 of the vote in an election where he promised to restore ties with Moscow.
His rival Maia Sandu, an ex-World Bank official who ran on an anti-corruption ticket was polling at 42.75 percent.
The scores are likely to narrow as more results come in as the pro-Russian vote traditionally comes in first in the former Soviet republic.
The pro-Russia figure, has tapped into popular anger with corruption under the pro-European government that came to power in 2009, particularly over about 1 billion US dollars that went missing from Moldovan banks before 2014 parliamentary elections.
