When offspring take on family archives, generally they get split into Mum's side/Dad's side. Unless your cousins marry each other, it's rare they intersect. Then I came across this.
This video was filmed by Harry Rothman in 1948. Harry was one of those Montrealers who raised money to secretly send arms to the Hagannah. He starts this video with Hirsch Wolofsky's Keneder Adler and the headline blaring the birth of the State of Israel. Rothman helped organize this rally (at the Montreal Forum?) to celebrate Israel's creation. The two men lived a couple of blocks from each other but represented the polar opposite sides of Montreal Jewry. They never met. Not so for their progeny.
Eleven years later, Harry's daughter would meet Hirsch's grandson. (Waiting for their cars in Mansion's garage after a Weavers Concert) The union would be formed and RothWol children were created. For their descendants, this brief intersection of their two ancestors' world's crisscrossing --is really fucking cool.
