Chamber Project St. Louis: RETOLD
Innovative concert experiences, inclusive programming and St. Louis-inspired musical excellence have defined Chamber Project St. Louis since its founding in 2007. Through the Project, talented musicians from across the St. Louis region join together to present chamber music of yesterday and today, engaging audiences in unique settings.
For their Sheldon series debut, the Chamber Project presents RETOLD: Listening Forward to History, a re-telling of America through music from the U.S. and Europe, with pieces by Cindy McTee, Joseph Haydn, Carlos Simon and Antonin Dvorak.
The program will also include a world premiere piece by a student from the Mizzou New Music Initiative, commissioned by The Sheldon.

Program Notes
Naiveté and Peace represents the childhood experience we had but cannot return
to: trying something new. I’ve always had a fascination and appreciation of the
way babies adjust to new things they’ve never experienced every day and the
malleability of the young human mind. This is given another layer when the world
around them is much more adjusted to our reality and much less interested in
new things. In this piece I try to return to that childhood growth mindset that is
accompanied by trust freely given and a world beautifully limitless. It is written
for flute, violin, viola, and cello with the flute consistently taking the role of the
child and the strings being influenced by its energy
