This video covers the four primary ways that stores like to sneakily take your money! Here's a summary of them in case you can't listen to the video and the closed captioning isn't working! Also, scroll down if you are interested in picking up any of the basic camera gear used to film these videos!

1. They make specific products for Black Friday and Cyber Monday! They are of lesser quality and are only sold that day to appear cheaper. It is the same strategy used for stocking outlet malls!
2. They use the Anchor Effect by raising prices a few weeks in advance, then "cutting the price" so that you think you saved money! A study done by the wall street journal found that the average price of most items across a sampling of a few thousand items was actually 8% higher than normal, and the "original prices" were almost 35% higher!
3. They use a very clever version of bait and switch to get you to buy these cheaper knockoff products. This one gets a bit complicated, but basically they claim that the product is out of stock online, but available in store. However, in the fine print, they stipulate that their store stock may be out of date - so, when you show up, the exact item will likely be out of stock, but a very very similar yet cheaply made version will be available! Then you'll buy that because you already drove to the store, and you might not even realize it isn't the product you wanted.
4. This one isn't a scam, but it is worth knowing - one of the reasons a lot of things are able to be put on such great sales is because they are just last years' models and need to be sold anyways! Not that it's a bad thing, but good to know in case you were expecting brand new products.
