In this video I want to demonstrate the ability of Artisan not only to record a roast but to control the roaster using Event-Sliders and Buttons.
I work on a home built 5Kg per batch maximum electrically heated machine. I use the Program Input-Extra-Devices from which Artisan 1.5 comes with 10 of them!
But please do not put your focus to much on the quality of the roast curve. The recorded roast process is not as described in a roasting school book aka Scott Rao ;-). There are some problematic regions in this curve - I knew.
I tried to roast an Grade 2 washed Yirgacheffe as an espresso roast. People in my area do not like acidity in espresso. I have my #2 blend which should have only a bit of it and some fruitiness. So I blend some chocolaty Brazil with some coffee from Ethiopia and try to keep acidity remarkable but soft.
In this roast I started with temperature a bit to high and turned heating off to late. I wanted to hit FC around 12 to get a longer yellow phase... With electrically heating an its sluggishness it is often much more of an trial and error than with gas I think.
