Outstanding Louisiana educators Lynn Foy of Joseph A. Craig Elementary School in New Orleans and Frankie Day of Louisiana State University Laboratory School in Baton Rouge were surprised on October 16, 2008 with $25,000 Milken Educator Awards for their exemplary work in raising student achievement. Milken Family Foundation Chairman Lowell Milken made the surprise announcement at schoolwide assemblies involving dignitaries such as Louisiana First Lady Supriya Jindal, Louisiana Superintendent of Education Paul Pastorek and New Orleans Recovery School District Superintendent Paul Vallas.
