If you have a picky eater, save this post for tips to help! 💾
It’s hard to promise your kid will love a recipe because all kids are different, BUT
There are strategies to use to help your picky eater learn to love new foods!
The “picky eating phase” is (unfortunately) totally normal. The good news is that YOU can help your child move through this phase.
Try these tips to help:
🍴 Division of Responsibility: YOU choose what, where, & when to eat; your child chooses if & how much
⏰ Predictable Schedule: offer 3 meals + 2-3 snacks per day for toddlers
👨👩👧👦 Eat Meals Together: model healthy eating for your kids!
🤯 Frequent Exposure: it can take up to 20 exposures to like a new food 🤯
🧑🍳 Involve Picky Eaters: let them help in the kitchen
😈 Food Moral Equivalence: avoid shame and guilt by not having “good” or “bad” foods
🏃 Long Game: lots of patience to try and try again
Most importantly, make sure to give yourself lots of grace.
It feels hard because it is hard. You’re doing great!
