It was a mild evening in February when I decided to go to the beautiful Old Danube (Alte Donau). The Old Danube is located in the 22nd district of Vienna, Donaustadt, and is one of the great highlights in this district.

The Old Danube is an old arm of the Danube in Vienna. It lies orographically to the left of the New Danube that accompanies the Danube mainstream, but has no direct connection with either it or the Danube itself. Of course, the Old Danube shows its most beautiful sides in summer, but this place also has its beautiful charm in winter.

Height above sea level: 157 m
Average depth: 2.3 m

In good weather hundrets off boats are awaiting vacationers from everywhere. The Old Danube is also very popular among sailors. Of course, very good restaurants are also waiting for visitors, such as :
Zur Alten Kaisermühle, La Crêperie, the Bootshaus, the Ufertaverne and Strandgasthaus Birner. May the coronavirus make it possible for us to have a great summer!
