BREAKING NEWS - BORIS Johnson is set to consider emergency plans to end Britain's petrol panic - with industry bosses fearing the fuel crisis could last at least another week.
The PM will today mull plans to deploy the army to drive fuel tankers amid petrol pump chaos caused by panic buying and a shortage of HGV drivers, it's reported.
The military could be scrambled to deliver fuel supplies as the crisis spiralled over the weekend.
Up to 90 per cent of all service stations outside of motorways are now dry as Brits raced to fill up their motors and the PM was urged to "act now" to avoid even worse chaos.
But his plan to bring in 5,000 truckers from the continent on short-term visas are in disarray with many set to refuse to come over.
There are fears the turmoil could deepen today as millions of Brits get into their cars and head to the office.
No 10 today insisted there are "no shortages" of fuel and supplies will go back to normal once people stop panic buying.
The PM's spokesman said: "Should the public return to their routine behaviours of filling up fuel that will significantly contribute to ending the challenges we're seeing.
"We completely understand public anxiety over this and will continue to do everything possible to reassure them there's no fuel shortages."
