Panch Prayag in Uttarakhand (Vishnuprayag, Nandprayag, Karnprayag, Rudraprayag & Devprayag), is a group of five sacred river confluences. These five Prayags are named after the respective rivers that meet at each of these confluences. The five Prayags are considered very significant in Hinduism, and are important pilgrimage sites for Hindus.
The five Prayags in the order of their flow of the river Ganges are:
Vishnuprayag: The confluence of the Alaknanda and Dhauliganga rivers.
Nandaprayag: The confluence of the Alaknanda and Nandakini rivers.
Karnaprayag: The confluence of the Alaknanda and Pindar rivers.
Rudraprayag: The confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers.
Devprayag: The confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers which together form the Ganges River.
Devprayag is considered to be the most important among the Panch Prayags as it is the starting point of the Ganges River. The other four Prayags are also believed to be very significant, and are visited by thousands of pilgrims each year.
