Abraham Lincoln's Tomb in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield, Illinois
We took a road trip to Springfield, Illinois over Memorial Day weekend. On our agenda was seeing Lincoln history. Oak Ridge Cemetery was our first stop. Please subscribe to our channel if you enjoy exploring our parks and public lands.
Oak Ridge Cemetery is the second most visited cemetery in the nation, second only to Arlington National Cemetery. It is the final resting place of our sixteenth President, Abraham Lincoln. Construction of the Lincoln Monument began in 1868. It was dedicated in 1874 in a ceremony attended by President U.S. Grant. Oak Ridge Cemetery is 365 acres of history. There was so much more to explore. We will plan to go back when we have more time.
