One of MXR's classics.
Again, as with many of the reviews posted today this is more of a 'crunch box.' Use it to add a light layer of crunch over the top of your clean sound (think SRV) or use it to drive a slightly overdriven tube amp.
Unlike many of the other 'crunch box'es I have reviewed I actually found this unit to also work fairly well standalone. It sounds like a nice solid-state amp distortion. With that in mind, remember to pair it with a tube amp (or use it for kicking in to high gear like for a lead.)
