East London born Peter Daltrey was the main songwriter and singer for psych rock band Kaleidoscope and prog rock band Fairfield Parlour. Peter began his musical journey with The Sidekicks in 1963, becoming The Key in 1965, then changing their name to Kaleidoscope upon signing a deal with Fontana Records in 1967. Kaleidoscope released 2 classic psych albums in the late 60’s, while not “wowing” the critics, have maintained a large fan base following to this day. There were also several singles, in particular “Flight from Ashiya” showing up on many various artist compilations. Morphing into Fairfield Parlour and with a new manager, the unit issued a couple of albums in the early 70’s. The sound was a little heavier, but still with pop psych leanings reminiscent of Kaleidoscope. Beginning in the mid 90’s Peter has stayed very busy releasing solo albums and albums in conjunction with Damien Youth. He has also found the time to help reissue old Kaleidoscope material as well as compilations. Also a writer and photographer, Mr. Daltrey has returned to his roots, writing poetry.
