August 10, 2019 - The Toronto Waterfront Asian Night Market had recently celebrated its 10 anniversary at the Ontario Place waterfront park.
Toronto is home to a multitude of Asian ethnic groups. It is probably one of the only major Canadian cities that can boast having a variety of exotic dishes and drinks.
I made my way to Ontario Place to check out the dishes one afternoon. It was a breezy, warm summer day, with a blue sky full of cumulus clouds, as a picturesque backdrop to the event.
When I got there, I was planning to sample some of the offerings, but wow, I couldn’t really make up my mind which dishes to sample.
There were so many choices, from seafood such as oysters, scallops, and grilled octopus to Filipino skewers of sausages, pork or beef, to Chinese tofu and buns, to Himalayan dumplings, and Hong Kong bubble waffle, and other street foods.
All in all, it was a good day to come, and have a picnic by the lake, while appreciating the foods that originated from the cultures of Asia, and brought to this city by its diverse immigrant population.
