Wild orchid expedition - Disa uniflora // This week on Orchids & Fynbos we go on an nature walk up Myburgh's Waterfall Ravine on Table Mountain national park in search of the wild orchid, Disa uniflora - The Pride of Table Mountain.
Disa uniflora is an orchid species native to Southern Africa, in particular the Cape Peninsula. This orchid species also belongs to the Fynbos Kingdom, so how fitting that our first video begins with a native species belonging to both the Orchid family and Fynbos Kingdom. On this expedition we will show you the natural habitat of this beautiful species of wild orchid which grows at the top of ravines and in natural seepage areas. This evergreen Disa species is accustomed to constant moisture or flowing water at its roots, and is found in areas of bright shade to even full sun (In cultivation Disa orchids don't tolerate full sun well).
Hope you enjoy the wild orchid flowers along with some other South African flowers and fynbos!
