Writer and broadcaster Esther Krakue says UK police have argued that people caught on CCTV footage shoplifting will be handed a fine.

“But that’s a very soft touch approach,” she told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“The reality is it’s very nice to tell the police to do their job – which they should – but you should be funding them; there’s really no excuse.”

This comes as a shoplifting “craze” has hit Britain, which led to the UK Police Minister calling for a zero-tolerance approach and having to tell officers to stop treating thefts of under £200 as not worth their time but investigate any report that includes CCTV.
