Maandhoo Fisheries Complex (MFC) owned by Horizon Fisheries Pvt Ltd is the largest tuna processing and marketing company in the Maldives. MFC is located in south of Maldives at an island named Maandhoo, which is about 10 minute drive from the domestic airport through a boulevard of palm trees with a glimpse of the azure ocean between the islands screening “the tropical paradise” the country is known for worldwide.

At Maandhoo, Horizon Fisheries has built an entire city with all necessary facilities for the operation and accommodation for more than 1000 employees. The plant has a processing capacity of 130MT and a cold storage of 3,500MT. For more than 10 years it has been producing and exporting a wide range of canned tuna, pouched tuna and cooked loins to EU countries and USA. Horizon is committed to processing highest quality products from tuna caught only locally by pole and line fishing. Pole and line; one hook, one line, one fishermen, one fish caught at a time is the most ecofriendly and sustainable method of fishing. The practice of environment friendly fishing has been prehistoric in Maldives, passing on the principles to later generation with no bycatch and avoiding interactions with endangered, threatened and protected (ETP) species.
