Learn how to tally specific text data in Excel using the function 'COUNTIF'.
To tally data simply enter the formula =COUNTIF followed by a range and a condition. For each condition that is met in the range of the selected cells, the COUNTIF function will add a value to its count.
So for example to count the amount of times the text 'Apples' turns up you would use the syntax =COUNTIF(B1:B4, "Apples")
