Barcelona celebrated the Feast of Corpus Christi this Thursday, June 16, a feast with 700 years of history, which arrives accompanied by the traditional Dancing egg, the floral carpets and the procession that falls on Sunday this year.

The Dancing egg (L'ou com balla) is a tradition that takes place in various cities in Catalonia on the Feast of Corpus Christi and has been celebrated uninterruptedly since 1637. It consists of placing an empty egg, with a point of wax to cover the hole, by which it has been emptied, on the jet of water of a fountain, so that it spins without falling. The fountain is usually adorned with flowers and fruits of the time, such as the cherries that cover the fountain cup, or carnations.

Carpets are ephemeral works of art that are traditionally made with petals, whole flowers and herbs, although for years it has been experimenting with more materials, such as seeds, sawdust or
coffee. They can represent very different motifs, but the most common ones are usually linked to the religiosity of Corpus Christi, spring, local themes or simply represent geometric motifs.
One of these carpets was dedicated to Ukraine.
