Japanese American organizations and individuals continue to implement important preservation and education centered initiatives through political advocacy and legislation. Panelists will discuss recent and ongoing initiatives including the designation of Amache as a National Historic Site; the support of preservation, interpretation, and the development of educational tools through the Japanese American Confinement Sites Grant program; and the recent Illinois state mandate to include Asian American history in public school curriculums.
